We are hiring 2 x RC Operations Manager!

Salary: circa £45k

Orthios is developing the site as a centre of excellence, showcasing the benefits of recovering industrial sized volumes of feedstock from waste streams.

Following the launch of our Recycling Centre (RC), we are looking for 2 x RC Operations Manager to join the team.

The RC Operations Manager duties involve leading a highly motivated materials recovery facility managing health, safety and environment to ensure the facility manages its risk profile appropriately, whilst being efficient and effective to meet standards in accordance with policy, legal compliance and best practice. 

Key focus of the role:

  • Day-to-day operational management of the material recovery facility, recycling commercial and industrial waste including the effective and efficient deployment of staff through shift rotation management
  • A comprehensive understanding and management of recycling equipment that includes industrial shredders, trommels, picking stations, metal recovery magnets, eddy current separators and various yellow equipment
  • Maintenance scheduling
  • Direction of Shift Supervisors in the supervision of their work teams including providing managerial cover for annual leave and sickness absence.
  • Assist in managing the budget for their service stream by monitoring budgets, forecasting, and ensuring services are delivered within budget.
  • Responsible for the achievement of tonnage targets for commercial waste, control of expenditure to achieve financial targets
  • Accurate record keeping and management of site and legal requirements
  • Responsible for the management of both internal and industry set standards
  • Ensuring that necessary corrective action is taken in respect of facility failures
  • Managing the day-to-day operation of business systems for the purposes of organising resources
  • Managing on a day-to-day basis the interface with the group ensuring all operators comply with the Regulators licence.
  • Responsible for the ordering and control of stock within the facility i.e. PPE
  • Produce production and resource reports
  • Dealing with HR matters such as recruitment, disciplinary processes, redundancy, sickness, and absence policy procedures.
  • Accountable for managing day-to-day health and safety of the facility to ensure compliance with HSE guidance.
  • Leading and developing their team by delivering a range of toolbox talks to staff relating to operating practices and procedures and health and safety matters.
  • Undertake facility inspections to ensure legal compliance and best practise is being followed.
  • Leading and development of their facility by providing day-to-day advice on operational issues
  • Being part of the management team, providing advice and assistance to the rest of the group
  • Attending and facilitating meetings in respect to shared improvement projects.
  • Providing costings and ensuring work is completed to objectives set.
  • Implementation and maintenance of ISO standards
