COVID-19 measures

  • Coronavirus Measures

    Furloughed employees

At the start of the UK lockdown, 24 March 2020, Orthios furloughed those employees who were unable to work from home.  During the furloughed period, we provided them with daily updates, with regards to ongoing operational plans, whilst offering them support with the additional resource of our employee assistance programme which offers 24/7 health support.

Whilst furloughed our employees could undertake training. One of the programmes we introduced was the NCRQ (National Compliance and Risk Qualification) Safety for Managers, a ground breaking online-based qualification featuring world-class films and engaging e-learning activities.  Delegates were required to undertake a number of real life case studies to discover the underlying management failures – and from this understand what can be done to prevent accidents and ill-health in your own workplace.  This was a successful programme, with 50% of our employees obtaining a national recognised safety qualification.

Critical Site Operational team & Office Staff

A small team were retained, on site, to manage site critical tasks, whilst office based personnel, who could work from home, continued to do so, allowing the company to forge forward with operational plans.

As the coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdown eased, we recognised that our organisation needed to return to full operations where possible, and adapt to new ways of working. To assist this return, we split our operational team into two, and introduced a staggered working day, these measures were put in place to manage our employees return to work, in the safest way possible, in line with Government Guidelines. In addition to these measures the attached policy was created, and communicated to all employees, contractors and visitors, to site, outlining the changes to our working environment and new ways of working.  These adaptations were informed by our COVID-19 risk assessment

  • COVID-19 Measures

We are doing everything we can to keep our site safe for our employees, contractors,  visitors and their contacts, and to help stop the spread of COVID-19 generally

    These steps include :

    • Setting up temperature check points
    • Obeying social distancing measures
    • Changing working patterns
    • Providing and enforcing the wearing of face coverings
    • Offering hand sanitizing points
    • Regular misting of key spaces with disinfectant
    • Regular sanitation of “hot spots”

We are also keeping a close look-out for changes in Government restrictions and public health advice and adopting any new measures quickly.

We are very grateful to our team, partnering contractors and site visitors for their compliance with our safety protocols and so enabling our business to continue.
