In October 2016 works on our Holyhead site commenced with the demolition and clearing of a larger proportion of our Holyhead sites old industrial complex. Where possible, we sought to retain any existing buildings which could be refurbished and reutilised as part of our plans for an Energy Centre and Eco Park.
The reuse of existing infrastructure is a principal element of our ethos and sustainability agenda. As such several buildings are outside the demolition plans, including the Pot Line and Administration buildings. Retaining these buildings has also enabled tenancy agreements on site, facilitating job creation.
The scale of these extensive works mean that this is an ongoing process, and, to date, it has taken around 12 months of demolition activity. The final phase is due for completion by Spring 2018 with the site then being ready for its sustainable regeneration.
