Thermal energy generation will be fuelled using various non-hazardous, UK-sourced feedstocks, of which the country exports c.3.5 million tonnes per year. As part of Orthios’ Modular Advanced Thermal Energy (MATE) system, the equipment is being selected to be compatible with the Biomass Power Station, with commonality and interchangeability of major components a key design consideration.
This core technology is a fundamental part of the long-term plans for the site. By introducing flexibility of feedstock into the design, Orthios can deliver energy to the Eco Park in a cost-effective and commercially sustainable manner. The generation equipment produces significant quantities of heat which will be used to support other activities on the Eco Park.
